On September 6, a metropolis courtroom handed an ex parte injunction in a defamation swimsuit filed by AEL restraining journalists from publishing allegedly defamatory materials concerning the firm. Following this, Mr. Thakurta, together with journalists Ravi Nair, Abir Dasgupta, Ayaskant Das, and Ayush Joshi, challenged the order.
While district choose Sunil Chaudhary, who heard Mr. Thakurta and Newslaundry’s appeals on September 17, declined their plea for an pressing listening to, district choose Ashish Aggarwal — who was assigned the petitions of the opposite journalists — put aside the injunction on September 18. Mr. Thakurta and Newslaundry sought their case to be transferred to Mr. Aggarwal’s courtroom.

Mr. Chaudhary had, on September 22, mentioned that it could be acceptable if the case have been heard by Mr. Aggarwal for the reason that latter had already handled and handed orders within the case. The matter was subsequently assigned to the courtroom of principal district and periods choose Gurvinder Pal Singh for evaluation.
On Tuesday, the principal district and periods choose declined the plea and dominated that Mr. Chaudhary will proceed to listen to the case.
While the counsel representing AEL opposed the plea, the advocate for Mr. Thakurta and Newslaundry argued that “issue could come up” in case of “inconsistencies” between the orders handed by the 2 district judges.
