RSS didn’t take prior permission from JNU for holding march: SFI

The Left-affiliated Students’ Federation of India (SFI) on Friday attacked the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for organising a march on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to mark its centenary 12 months.

The SFI stated the RSS “didn’t take prior permission” from the college for holding the march on September 28.

“When progressive organisations like ours must organise any occasion, we’re required to take permission. But the RSS and the ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) are given a free hand,” SFI JNU secretary Parvathy stated.

She added, “Over 100 folks have been current on the public gathering adopted by a march to have a good time 100 years of the RSS. Some have been from inside JNU whereas others have been from outdoors.”

The SFI, in an announcement, stated, “Allowing the RSS into educational areas is an assault on the Constitution, tradition, and collective reminiscence. Education belongs to the folks, to not the RSS.”

The SFI stated such marches have additionally been held on the University of Rajasthan and a number of other different academic establishments.

However, a member of the RSS-affiliated ABVP stated a march is performed yearly in a park contained in the JNU, which is a “residential space”, and “doesn’t require prior permission”.
