While 2.50 lakh women beneficiaries started receiving the monthly assistance of ₹1,000 in the first phase, 1,000 women have been included in the second phase to receive the assistance.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Appavu said the monthly honorarium of ₹1,000, the free bus service for women, ‘Puthumai Penn’ scheme for giving ₹1,000 a month to the government schoolgirls going to college and the interest-free loan for the women self-help groups for starting their business ventures had transformed the face of rural economy in Tamil Nadu as the women could save a lot through these schemes.
District Collector R. Sukumar, Palayamkottai MLA M. Abdul Wahab and chairman of Tirunelveli district panchayat V.S.R. Jegadeesh were present.
In Thoothukudi district, Minister for Social Welfare P. Geetha Jeevan and Minister for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Anita R. Radhakrishnan handed over the orders for receiving the assistance to over 1,000 beneficiaries in the presence of District Collector K. Elambahavath.
“After receiving applications from eligible women during ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ special camps, they have been included in the second phase,” Ms. Geetha said.
Minister for Dairy Development T. Mano Thangaraj handed over the orders to receive the assistance to 1,025 women beneficiaries in Kanniyakumari district in the presence of District Collector R. Alagumeena. “In the first phase, 2,99,682 women in Kanniyakumari district started receiving the assistance,” Mr. Mano Thangaraj said.
Tenkasi District Collector A.K. Kamal Kishore handed over the orders for receiving the monthly assistance to 1,000 beneficiaries in a function held at Vasudevanallur on Friday.
