Shah hails police, NCB for seizing 262-crore drugs, busting cartel

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday lauded Delhi Police and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for seizing 328 kg of high-quality methamphetamine worth ₹262 crore from a house in Chhatarpur, saying the government is “shattering drug cartels at an unprecedented pace”.

The joint NCB-Delhi Police team busted the cartel on November 20 as part of ‘Operation Crystal Fortress’, which targets high-volume synthetic drug networks. 

In a post on X, Mr. Shah said the joint operation was a “brilliant example of seamless multi-agency coordination” to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a drug-free India.

“Fiercely pursuing the top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top approach to the investigation of drugs, a breakthrough was achieved by seizing 328 kg of methamphetamine worth ₹262 crore in New Delhi and arresting two. Congratulations to the joint team of NCB and Delhi Police,” he wrote.

Two persons, including a woman from Nagaland, were arrested after the drugs were seized from her residence. Officials said the network’s operatives have been identified, including the kingpin operating from abroad, who is also wanted in connection with last year’s seizure of 82.5 kg of cocaine in Delhi by the NCB.

Efforts are on in coordination with international enforcement partners to secure his deportation to India to face legal proceedings, they added.
