Telangana Municipal Corporations and Municipalities polls on February 11; vote counting on February 13

The stage is all set for the elections to seven Municipal Corporations and 116 Municipalities, including the newly constituted ones across Telangana

The Telangana State Election Commission on Tuesday (January 27, 2026) released schedule for the conduct of elections to the municipal bodies. The election will be held in a single phase on February 11, for 2,582 wards spread over 116 municipalities and 414 wards of the seven municipal corporations spread over 32 districts.

According to the schedule, notification for the polls will be issued on Wednesday and filing of nominations nominations will commence immediately. The last date for filing of nominations is January 30 and their scrutiny will be taken up the next day January 31.

The election authority will publish the list of validly nominated candidates immediately on completion of scrutiny of nominations. Candidates can appeal before the District Election Authority or Additional District Election Officers on February 1 if their nominations are rejected and these appeals will be disposed of on February 2. The next day, February 3, will be the last date for withdrawal of nominations and the final list of contesting candidates will be published the same day evening after 3 pm.

Election for the local bodies will be held on February 11 and re-polling, if any, would be held the next day February 12. Counting of votes will be taken up on February 13 and the results will be declared the same day evening. The State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini Devi released the notification for the polls calling upon voters of notified municipal corporations and municipalities whose term had expired as well as the newly formed ones to elect members of the wards.

The State Election Commissioner held video conference with the Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy and other senior officials earlier to assess the election preparedness of the administration before announcing the schedule for the poll.
