The Conjuring: Last Rites trailer: The Warrens confront their first demon in closing outing

Warner Bros. has launched the trailer for The Conjuring: Last Rites, the concluding chapter within the long-running supernatural horror franchise. The trailer teases the Warrens’ most private and haunting case but — one which circles again to their very first encounter with evil.

Starring Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, the fourth mainline Conjuring movie explores the real-life Smurl haunting, a case involving a Pennsylvania household stricken by a demonic presence for over a decade. But this time, the Warrens are deeply entangled.

The trailer additionally encompasses a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it return of the Annabelle doll. The doll’s transient look hints at a deeper connection to the broader franchise lore, as does a scene the place Lorraine is pursued by a seemingly possessed man, with Ed attempting to avoid wasting her.

Directed by Michael Chaves, The Conjuring: Last Rites brings again a number of key gamers behind the scenes. James Wan and Peter Safran produce, with a screenplay penned by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing, and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.
