Kishor Kumar Puttur, MLC, had asked whether the unscientific work executed at Mura near Puttur on Mani-Mysuru NH 275 that has led to many accidents had come to the notice of the government and if so, what actions had been proposed. This was one of the many sub questions in an unstarred question of the MLC during the ongoing legislature session at Belagavi.
Responding to this, Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi said the National Highways Division of the PWD has not undertaken the unscientific work at Mura on NH 275.
Unhappy with the reply
Expressing unhappiness over the reply, Mr. Puttur in a statement here on Friday said he would soon meet the Minister and urge him to address the issue on priority.
Mura Cross on NH 275 connecting Mura with Peramogru on Mangaluru-Bengaluru NH 75 has become a death trap with many accidents happening, the MLC said. Recalling the recent 134-day unsuccessful fight for his life by Apoorva Bhat, victim of a road accident at Mura cross and another motorcyclist’s death, Mr. Puttur said notwithstanding repeated accidents at the spot, officials concerned have turned a blind eye towards the road condition.
The MLC demanded immediate widening of the highway at Mura Cross and developing it as a four-lane road for 1.5 km; erection of speed humps till the road was widened, and declaring it an accident zone.
