Widespread broadband outage in Hyderabad as electrical energy division removes dangling cables of ISPs

From Nanakramguda to Nizampet, from Neredmet to Nallagandla, and from Annojiguda to Beeramguda, broadband and cable TV companies have been disrupted in Hyderabad after the electrical energy division officers started performing on dangling cables. 

The motion has been triggered by a collection of fatalities because of the hanging cables in Ramanthapur, Amberpet and Bandlaguda in a span of 24 hours. 

As the Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana workers started eradicating the cables hanging from the utility’s infrastructure, experiences of disruption started on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) afternoon. By night it was a sweep of complaints from throughout the town.

“No Cable TV in our dwelling since yesterday…seems to be just like the cable TV wires have been minimize by the ability division for utilizing their poles,” stated Sunder Nagesh. Imran, a resident of Shastripuram close to Rajendranagar, stated he missed an essential assembly because of the sudden outage of the service.

“It was down yesterday at 10 p.m., however mounted by 7 p.m.. now it’s effective,” stated a resident of Kukatpally.

Reacting to the event, the Cable Operators Association of India issued a press release. “Today, a significant community outage is affecting numerous dwelling broadband customers within the metropolis. This disruption has been attributable to the electrical energy division’s indiscriminate and aggressive slicing of optical fiber cables. The COAI needs to focus on that web cables don’t carry electrical energy and are subsequently unrelated to energy infrastructure,” stated Lt. Gen Dr. S.P. Kochhar, Director General, COAI.
