7/11 Mumbai prepare blasts case: High Court acquits all 12 accused; says prosecution totally did not show case

The Bombay High Court on Monday (July 21, 2025) quashed the conviction of 12 individuals within the 2006 Mumbai prepare blasts case and acquitted them, noting the prosecution has “utterly failed” to show the case towards them.

The judgment comes 19 years after the phobia assault that shook town’s Western Railway community, ensuing within the lack of over 180 lives and leaving a number of others injured.

A particular bench of Justices Anil Kilor and Shyam Chandak mentioned the proof relied by the prosecution was not conclusive to convict the accused individuals.

“The prosecution has utterly failed to prove the case against the accused. It is hard to believe that the accused committed the crime. Hence their conviction is quashed and set aside,” the HC mentioned.

The Bench mentioned it refuses to verify the demise penalty imposed on 5 of the convicts and likewise the life imprisonment on the remaining seven, and acquitted them.

The Mumbai prepare blast thriller thickens 

The Court mentioned the accused shall be launched from jail forthwith if not needed in some other case.

A particular Court in 2015 convicted the 12 individuals within the case, of whom 5 had been sentenced to demise and the remaining seven got life imprisonment.

After the HC’s judgment was pronounced on Monday (July 21, 2025), the convicts, who had been produced earlier than the courtroom through video convention from varied jails throughout the State, thanked their legal professionals.

On July 11, 2006, seven blasts ripped by way of Mumbai native trains at varied places on the western line, killing greater than 180 individuals and injuring a number of others.
