Bihar election: 400 Tripura State Rifles personnel to offer safety

GUWAHATI

More than 400 personnel of the elite Tripura State Rifles (TSR) will present safety in the course of the two-phase Bihar Assembly election. A senior official of Tripura’s Home Department stated the TSR contingent, led by Commandant Jyotishman Daschoudhuri, left for Bihar by a particular prepare on Friday (October 24, 2025) evening. The contingent is anticipated to succeed in Patna by October 27 morning.

“They will present safety throughout each phases of the Bihar polls, in line with the Election Commission’s deployment plan,” the official stated.

The first part of polling in Bihar, protecting 121 of the 243 Assembly constituencies, will happen on November 6. The second part on November 11, 2025 will cowl the remaining 122 seats.

The TSR has been offering safety throughout elections and different main occasions throughout the nation. The pressure has 14 battalions, most of that are India Reserve Battalions that may be deployed in any State, if required by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

Two TSR battalions, comprising about 2,000 personnel, together with officers, have been posted out of Tripura. One battalion has been working underneath the Delhi Police since 2019, whereas one other is engaged in Chhattisgarh’s South Eastern Coalfields Limited since 2022.

The TSR was raised in 1983 on the sample of the Central paramilitary forces to take care of Tripura’s rising extremism drawback. Its personnel are educated in counter-insurgency operations.
