Calcutta excessive courtroom grants interim bail to influencer Sharmistha Panoli

The courtroom has directed the social media influencer to furnish a bail bond of ₹10,000.

The 22-year-old was arrested by the Kolkata Police final week from Gurugram in Haryana. She is accused of injuring non secular sentiments by her ‘communal’ feedback in a video on her social media.

In the video, she had made remarks criticising Bollywood actors on Operation Sindoor. After going through backlash, Panoli deleted the submit and issued an apology.

The courtroom had additionally directed the West Bengal authorities to provide the case diary on June 5.

Panoli’s lawyer claimed that no offence is made out within the criticism filed in opposition to her for allegedly making some remarks on social media in the course of the Operation Sindoor in opposition to Pakistan.

He claimed that there was a disagreement on social media between customers throughout India and Pakistan throughout Operation Sindoor, which India undertook in response to the Pahalgam terror assault that claimed the lives of 26 males, most of whom have been vacationers.

Her arrest led to a political row in West Bengal, with the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) describing Sharmishta Panoli’s arrest as “selective enforcement” and accusing the Kolkata Police of performing in “uncharacteristic haste”.
