Chaitanya Baghel final authority ofliquor syndicate: ED

The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has mentioned that Chaitanya Baghel, the son of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, was the “controller and supreme authority” of an “organised liquor syndicate” within the State.

In its chargesheet towards Mr. Chaitanya Baghel, the company mentioned that in 2019, when Mr. Bhupesh Baghel was the Chief Minister, the syndicate was floated.

“To run the day-to-day operations of this syndicate, Anil Tuteja, IAS officer, and Anwar Dhebar (each co-accused within the alleged rip-off who’ve been named in earlier chargesheets) have been chosen because the entrance faces. They managed operational and administrative features of the syndicate, making certain its easy functioning,” the chargesheet learn.

On Mr. Chaitanya Baghesh’s position in cash laundering, the ED mentioned that he stood at “the apex of this syndicate” and had a “commanding and decisive” position in dealing with funds. “He was liable for sustaining the “hisab” (accounts) of all illicit funds collected by the syndicate. All main choices referring to assortment, channelisation, and distribution of funds have been taken below his directions. His place because the Chief Minister’s son made him the controller and supreme authority of the syndicate,” it mentioned.

The company mentioned that it had been established that Mr. Chaitanya Baghel personally dealt with round ₹1,000 crore generated from the alleged rip-off. The chargesheet, filed earlier than the courtroom of District and Additional Sessions Judge (VI) Damarudhar Chouhan on Monday (September 15, 2025), mentioned that Mr. Chaitanya Baghel “knowingly assisted within the concealment, possession, acquisition and use of proceeds of crime, appearing in conspiracy with different members of the syndicate”.

Mr. Chaitanya Baghel was arrested by the company on July 18. Back then, the ED had mentioned that he was named within the case on the idea of a press release by Laxmi Narayan Bansal, alias Pappu, who had informed the company about dealing with greater than ₹1,000 crore that was made out of the rip-off. Denying the allegations towards Mr. Chaitanya Baghel, his lawyer, Faisal Rizvi, mentioned that the arrest of his consumer was made on the idea of fabricated statements.
