The Congress on Thursday (August 14, 2025) accused the Modi authorities of being “biased” towards Opposition-ruled States in allocating semiconductor manufacturing tasks.

“Much earlier similar transfer of locations were forced through. Two semiconductor manufacturing projects were compelled to shift their proposed location from Telangana to Gujarat. Similarly, another factory planned for Tamil Nadu got approval on the condition that it shifts to Gujarat,” Mr. Ramesh claimed.

“Need anything more be said? The PM speaks of competition among states that will make India strong. But if the umpire is so blatantly biased, the competition becomes a farce,” the Congress chief mentioned.

His remarks come days after the Union Cabinet accepted 4 semiconductor crops, together with a unit backed by US know-how main Intel and Lockheed Martin, entailing a complete funding of Rs 4,594 crore in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab.

Speaking in regards to the new semiconductor tasks accepted by the Cabinet, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had mentioned two main tasks shall be arrange in Odisha and one every in Punjab and Andhra Pradesh.

“Cabinet has approved four semiconductor plants that will be set up in Odisha, Punjab and Andhra Pradesh,” Vaishnaw mentioned.

The Minister mentioned Chief Ministers of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh spoke to him after the cupboard nod for the undertaking and shared that the development of crops shall be began on the earliest.

All these crops shall be operational in 2-3 years, Mr. Vaishnaw had mentioned.
