Congress protests in Chhattisgarh against misuse of investigating agencies

The Chhattisgarh unit of the Congress party protested both on the streets and in the Assembly alleging that central and State probe agencies were being misused to suppress the Opposition.

Congress party staged protests outside the BJP office following the court’s dismissal of the ED’s charge sheet in the National Herald case.

Earlier, in the Assembly, Congress members entered the House wearing clothes with “Satyamev Jayate” posters during the Question Hour. As they raised slogans saying the government was misusing investigative agencies, Treasury benches took exception to it and the speaker Raman Singh too said it was against the rules. Former CM Bhupesh Baghel posted a clip of Congress MLAs walking in the Assembly and either wearing or holding placards with the Satyamev Jayate slogan on X with the caption stating “In the face of every force and oppression, Struggle is our slogan…

After tarnishing the image of our national leadership for a decade by misusing agencies, the BJP has now been exposed. The court, while reprimanding the ED, has clearly stated that no money laundering case is made out in the National Herald against Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, or anyone else.

The way the BJP wants to intimidate and threaten the opposition by misusing agencies, we all stand united against it. Today, in the Chhattisgarh Assembly, we all have reiterated the resolve of “Satyameva Jayate.”

During the question hour, Mr. Singh said using posters and banners inside the House was not appropriate and it is against parliamentary rules. He asked Congress members to get them removed and then attend the House proceedings. BJP MLA Chandrakar asked under which rules Congress members entered the House wearing posters on their clothes.

As Congress remained defiant the Assembly was adjourned thrice. Later, the speaker called the Congress’s act of disrupting the question hour as inappropriate, citing discussions on questions related to public issues were held in the question hour.
