ED information chargesheet towards Uttarakhand Congress chief Harak Singh Rawat, spouse in PMLA case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday (July 19, 2025) stated it has filed a chargesheet towards Uttarakhand Congress chief and Former Minister Harak Singh Rawat and his spouse, other than some others, in a money-laundering case linked to the alleged usurping of two land parcels in Dehradun, the market worth of which is greater than ₹70 crore.

The federal probe company stated in an announcement that the prosecution criticism was filed earlier than a particular Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PLA) courtroom in state capital Dehradun.

The accused named within the chargesheet embrace Harak Singh Rawat, his spouse Deepti Rawat, his alleged affiliate Birendra Singh Kandari, Laxmi Singh Rana and the Smt. Poorna Devi Memorial Trust.

Mr. Rawat (64) is a Former Forest Minister of Uttarakhand. He give up the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forward of the 2022 Assembly polls within the hill State and joined the Congress.

The PMLA case of the ED stems from an FIR of the Uttarakhand Police filed towards Deepti Rawat and Laxmi Singh Rana, who’re alleged to have registered land of their title in a “conspiracy” hatched by Kandari, Harak Singh Rawat, late Sushila Rani and a few others.

“Despite the clear order of the Hon’ble Court, Sushila Rani in a conspiracy with different individuals registered two powers of legal professional for lands located at Sahaspur, Dehradun.

“These lands were sold by power of attorney holder Birendra Singh Kandari, a close associate of Harak Singh Rawat, to Deepti Rawat and Laxmi Singh Rana for an amount which was much below the circle rates prevailing in that area,” the ED stated.

The land plots bought by Deepti Rawat at the moment are a part of the Doon Institute of Medical Science (run by the Smt. Poorna Devi Memorial Trust), which is “controlled” by the household and mates of Harak Singh Rawat, the company added.

The ED connected the 2 plots of land, measuring 101 bighas, in January below the PMLA. The two immovable belongings are price ₹6.56 crore however their present market worth is greater than ₹70 crore, based on the company.
