He has his causes: Shashi Tharoor on Rahul Gandhi’s ‘useless financial system’ comment

Congress MP #Shashi Tharoor on Saturday (August 2, 2025) refused to touch upon get together chief #Rahul Gandhi’s endorsing U.S. President #Donald Trump’s ‘useless financial system’ comment about #India and mentioned the Leader of Opposition in #Lok Sabha could have had his “personal causes” for saying so.

The remarks got here after Congress MP Mr. Gandhi on Thursday (July 31, 2025) agreed with US President #Donald Trump’s assertion that the #Indian financial system is “useless” and mentioned he’s “glad” that the U.S. President has acknowledged a truth.

Speaking to the mediapersons, Mr. Tharoor mentioned, “I don’t need to touch upon what my get together chief has mentioned. He has his causes for saying so. My concern is that our relationship with the U.S., as a strategic and financial partnership, is essential for us. We are exporting round 90 billion value of products to America. We can’t be ready to lose that or have it diminish considerably.”

“We should want our negotiators energy to get a good deal for #India. We must also be speaking to different areas for exporting our items. Then we might make up for a few of what we would lose within the U.S. We need to help our negotiators,” he added.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Gandhi mentioned that the entire world is aware of the #Indian financial system is “useless” apart from the Prime Minister and Finance Minister.

“Yes, he’s proper. Everybody is aware of this besides the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister. Everybody is aware of that the #Indian financial system is a useless financial system. I’m glad that President Trump has acknowledged a truth. The total world is aware of that the #Indian financial system is a useless financial system. BJP has completed the financial system to assist Adani,” Mr.Gandhi mentioned.

On Wednesday (July 30, 2025), U.S. President #Donald Trump made a surprising assertion on his social media platform #Truth Social after the announcement of 25% tariffs towards #India and threatened a further “penalty” for importing Russian oil.
