Jinnah, Savarkar behind Indias partition; BJP now dividing neighbourhoods: Digvijaya Singh

Senior Congress chief Digvijaya Singh has alleged that Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Hindutva ideologue V.D. Savarkar induced India’s partition in 1947, whereas the ruling BJP is at present dividing the cities and neighbourhoods.

He claimed on Thursday (October 30) in response to questions regarding media studies concerning the alleged exodus of Hindus from two Muslim-majority localities in Sagar metropolis within the State.

“Jinnah (founding father of Pakistan) and Savarkar divided the nation, and now the BJP is dividing each metropolis and each neighbourhood,” the Rajya Sabha member instructed reporters in Indore.

To a query concerning the BJP’s ‘Run for Unity’ on Friday (October 31), marking the one hundred and fiftieth delivery anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Congress chief stated, “We welcome this occasion, however don’t neglect that October 31 can be a martyrdom day.”

He was referring to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who was assassinated by her bodyguards on the morning of October 31, 1984.

Mr. Singh additionally stated that “proofs of citizenship” are being collected beneath the guise of the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists within the nation.

“Why are booth-level officers (BLOs) eradicating the names of people that have already voted three or 4 instances from the voter listing, despite the fact that no complaints have been filed? In double-engine governments, BLOs are functioning like BJP employees,” he added.
