The Congress on Saturday (October 18, 2025) resumed a district-wise chain starvation strike in Jammu and Kashmir over the demand for restoration of Statehood.

“The Congress will press for the demand of Statehood restoration. We demand that the Centre ought to respect the aspirations of individuals of J&Ok. People are feeling uncared for in absence of Statehood, as their rights have been denied and compromised. We is not going to relaxation until the Statehood is restored,” J&Ok Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra mentioned.

As a part of the protest programme titled, ‘Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq’ (Statehood is our proper), senior Congress leaders, together with former Minister Taj Mohi Ud Din, joined the starvation strike of District Congress Committee, Baramulla, noticed on the social gathering headquarters in Srinagar.

“’Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq’ is Congress social gathering’s indigenous motion. It shall proceed until the Centre restores the dignity and honour of the erstwhile princely State of J&Ok,” Mr. Karra mentioned.

The Congress had known as off the marketing campaign after the Pahalgam terror assault in April this 12 months.

Meanwhile, the Congress mentioned all choices had been open with regards to the upcoming by-elections for Nagrota and Budgam seats in J&Ok. “The NC has provided assist for Nagrota seat.
