Speaking on the launch of The Man Who Fed India, a biography of Dr. Swaminathan by the Singapore-based creator Priyambada Jayakumar, Mr. Gandhi mentioned three English phrases recognized by all farmers within the nation was “Swaminathan Farmer Commission”.
Mr. Gandhi mentioned Dr. Swaminathan had been a part of the group of scientists world wide who stood for humanity and nuclear disarmament. “Swaminathan’s works for agriculture has given India’s farmers a life,” Mr. Gandhi mentioned.
In a panel dialogue that adopted the e book launch, Shashi Tharoor, MP, mentioned Dr. Swaminathan labored at a time when the recollections of Bengal famine had been haunting the nation.
‘International contacts’
Former Planning Board Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia mentioned Dr. Swaminathan revolutionised the nation’s agriculture by means of his worldwide contacts.
DMK chief Kanimozhi mentioned Dr. Swaminathan’s works for empowering girls and guaranteeing ecologically pleasant agriculture practices weren’t mentioned the way in which it deserved.
