Left union raises banner of revolt in opposition to KSRTC

The Kerala State Road Transport Employees Association (KSRTEA), affiliated with the CITU within the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation, has raised a banner of revolt in opposition to the ‘unscientific service modernisation’ being carried out within the public utility. According to the affiliation’s office-bearers, the administration had reduce down on the workers duties within the superclass providers with out discussions with the workers. 

In addition, the administration’s determination to terminate the contracts of 125 Badali staff (contract employees) from April 2025 too prompted the affiliation to confront the administration and the Transport Minister. The affiliation held protests throughout the State on Wednesday, demanding the restoration of service duties and the reinstatement of the contract staff.

Though the affiliation has given a letter to the administration searching for the pressing revoking of the choice, the administration has but to take a name on the matter. During the COVID-19 interval, the KSRTC administration had eliminated the contract staff from service. The affiliation then held a 92-day-long day-night strike prompting the company to reinstate them. 

‘No causes given’

These staff had been now terminated from the service with none purpose, the office-bearers stated. The majority of the eliminated workers are above 50 years, they usually comprise girls, widows, and individuals with disabilities. The prospects of their getting different employments throughout this era of their profession are slim, stated Honey Balachandran, common secretary of the affiliation.
