A 38-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was arrested at Katpadi railway station in Vellore on Wednesday for posing as a Ticket Traveller Examiner (TTE).

The arrested individual was recognized as Hemath Rastogi, a local of U.P. Initial inquiry revealed that the sufferer Ali, 43, a local of Assam, was working as a development labourer in Chittoor city in Andhra Pradesh. He got here to the railway station to ship off his pals to Assam.

After sending them off, Ali determined to e-book a ticket to Assam. As he approached the advance reserving centre on the railway station, Rastogi intervened and provided Ali assist to e-book his ticket. In return, Rastogi demanded ₹7,500 as fee.

Ali informed police that he paid the cash to Rastogi, who stated that he would get a ticket for his cell phone and left the spot. After ready for a very long time, Ali discovered that he had been cheated and complained to the Government Railway Police (GRP) on the railway station.

A police group discovered Rastogi on one of many platforms on the railway station. Police recovered ₹7,500, pretend railway tickets and cell phones from him. A case was registered, and Rastogi was lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. Further probe is beneath approach.
