Man loses 1.97 lakh in on-line grocery rip-off

A 36-year-old resident of Yousufguda was duped of ₹1.97 lakh in an APK rip-off after making an attempt to buy groceries by a fraudulent web site that appeared like Big Basket.

According to the criticism, the sufferer positioned an order on September 30, after discovering an internet grocery website providing merchandise at unusually low costs. Two days later, he acquired a name from a person claiming to symbolize Big Basket’s buyer care division, who knowledgeable him of a “pending cost” and despatched an APK file through WhatsApp for finishing the transaction.

Believing it to be official, the sufferer put in the file and paid ₹360. Shortly afterwards, he acquired an SMS alert a few substantial unauthorised debit from his bank card. Though he had not shared any OTP, the transaction was processed efficiently.
