Naidu gives nod to set up logistics infra corporation in A.P.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has given the green signal for the establishment of the AP Logistics Infrastructure Corporation (AP-LInC), a major step toward transforming Andhra Pradesh into a premier logistics hub of the east coast.

The proposed corporation will act as the nodal agency to integrate ports, airports, road networks, inland waterways, and cold-storage chains to significantly reduce logistics costs. An MD will soon be appointed, and the corporation will take charge of attracting large-scale investments into the logistics sector.

During a review meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said AP-LInC should function as a government holding company capable of mobilising global investments into logistics. He instructed officials to strengthen logistics infrastructure statewide and establish district-level cells to improve ground-level logistics facilities, including in remote areas.

The Chief Minister has consistently expressed his vision to develop Andhra Pradesh as the “Gateway of the East Coast” with logistics systems that meet global standards. As part of this vision, he has also announced plans to set up a Logistics University and a Civil Aviation University in the State.

Recalling his address at the East Coast and Logistics Summit held recently in Visakhapatnam, organised by the Global Forum for Sustainable Transformation (GFST) and Maritime Gateway, Mr. Naidu said the logistics sector plays a crucial role in economic growth and employment. He noted that logistics currently contributes around 1 % to the State’s GSDP and stressed the need to raise it to 3 %.

The Chief Minister highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s natural advantages for port-led growth, with six operational ports and four more under development. ‘’The government is committed to establishing a port or fishing harbour every 50 km along the State’s 1,050 km coastline,’’ he said, adding A.P. ranks second in sea-cargo movement and serves as a logistics lifeline for neighbouring States, including Telangana, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and parts of Karnataka.
