NCB, police in Rajasthan and Maharashtra bust inter-State artificial drug syndicate

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), in coordination with police in Rajasthan and Maharashtra, has busted an inter-State drug syndicate allegedly concerned within the clandestine manufacture of artificial medication.

The NCB stated that on July 22, a laboratory was detected inside a buffalo barn situated in a secluded village in Rajasthan’s Barmer district.

During the raid, the Barmer police recovered a number of precursor chemical substances, together with chloroform, ammonium chloride, propylene chloride, toluene and bromine, together with tools used to fabricate Mephedrone.

Two members of the syndicate have been detained, and the NCB’s Jodhpur unit joined the investigation with the native police.

Interrogation of the accused led to the identification of a resident of Raigad district in Maharashtra, who allegedly transported the chemical substances and tools to arrange the lab.

Following his detention by the Raigad police, the accused revealed that he had beforehand labored at a now-defunct manufacturing unit. A search of the premises led to the seizure of roughly 34 kg of Ketamine in powdered type and 12 litres of Ketamine in liquid type, together with chemical substances akin to chloroform, ammonium chloride, propylene chloride, toluene, bromine and cyclohexanone, and numerous lab devices.

“These shut premises have been getting used to run the lab clandestinely to fabricate Ketamine. Investigation has additional revealed involvement of a mastermind who has been concerned in earlier drug trafficking circumstances of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and NCB,” the company stated in an announcement.

Earlier, a clandestine laboratory manufacturing Mephedrone was busted by the NCB Jodhpur unit in Sri Ganganagar, the place 5 kg of the drug together with precursor chemical substances have been recovered. Among the arrested have been individuals with backgrounds in physics and chemistry.

In response to the rising pattern of artificial drug manufacture in hid setups, the NCB has circulated a listing of “pink flag indicators” to all State Directors General of Police to assist in identification of such services.
