Urging the State authorities to meet the long-pending calls for of the Idiga Community, Pranavananda Swami, peethadhipathi of Brahmashree Narayana Guru Shakti Peetha, Kardal village in Kalaburagi district, will launch a padayatra from Kardal village to Bengaluru on January 6, 2026, protecting 700 km on foot in 41 days.

Addressing a press convention right here on Monday, the seer mentioned {that a} preliminary assembly can be held in Kalaburagi on November 2 to chalk out plans for the 700-km padayatra.

“The Idiga neighborhood is classed as a Scheduled Tribes in some States however in Karnataka, our demand has been pending for a very long time. The Siddaramaiah-led State authorities is popping a deaf ear to the long-pending calls for of the Idiga neighborhood. But we’re not going to budge until our calls for are fulfilled,” Pranavananda Swami mentioned.

He urged the State authorities to ship a contemporary proposal to the Centre recommending the inclusion of the Idiga neighborhood below the Scheduled Tribes record.

The calls for included allocating ₹500 crore funds to the Brahmashree Narayana Guru Corporation for the welfare of Idiga and Billava communities, offering 5 acres of land for cultivation to every Idiga household, set up of Brahmashree Narayana Guru statue in entrance of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru and likewise establishing a research centre within the identify of Sri Narayana Guru in all universities throughout the State.
