The Telangana Prisons Department on Saturday (September 28, 2025) inaugurated its new Public Private Partnership Project on the Prison Agriculture Colony, Cherlapalli, unveiling a facility that blends rehabilitation with group engagement.

The mission was formally inaugurated by Director General of Police (DGP) Jitender, who praised the imaginative and prescient of Soumya Mishra, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, for steering an initiative that mixes studying and leisure whereas providing a constructive platform for youngsters, college students and households. He stated the idea, initially his brainchild, displays the Department’s forward-looking strategy to social accountability.

The initiative includes a yoga centre, journey zone, mini golf courtroom and farm-to-plate actions, with a specific concentrate on farming consciousness programmes designed to introduce youngsters and college students to cultivation practices. The goal is to instil respect for agriculture, sustainability and meals safety amongst youthful generations.

Soumya Mishra stated the Prisons Department is dedicated to constructing bridges with society past its typical corrective roles. She careworn that the mission may also present employment and job coaching to launched prisoners and open air jail inmates. More than 30 inmates might be engaged within the scheme, receiving wages to assist their households whereas buying abilities for reintegration into society.

DGP Jitender famous that the mission would function inspiration to youngsters and college students by giving them hands-on publicity to farming. He stated the initiative would assist younger residents admire the function of agriculture in on a regular basis life.

The programme was attended by senior serving and retired cops together with G. Sudheer Babu, Commissioner of Police Rachakonda, M. Ramesh, Managing Director of the Telangana Police Housing Corporation, Kartikeya, IGP Intelligence, Tafseer Iqbal, IGP Multi Zone-II, P. V. Padmaja, Deputy Commissioner of Police Malkajgiri Zone, retired IG Prisons M.R. Ahmed, retired IG A. Narasimha, N. Murali Babu, IG Prisons, N. Shivakumar Goud, Superintendent of Jails, Central Prison Cherlapalli, and D. Kalidas, Superintendent, Prisoners Agricultural Colony (FAC).
