The first part of the SIR was held in Bihar, following which greater than 68 lakh names have been deleted from the electoral rolls.
In this part of the SIR, the house-to-house enumeration will happen for a month from November 4 to December 4, and the draft rolls will probably be revealed on December 9.
ECI has revealed an inventory of ‘Indicative (not Exhaustive) Documents’ required for the revision of the draft electoral roll.
Here are the paperwork for SIR:
1. Any identification playing cards, pension fee order issued to an everyday worker/pensioner of any central authorities/State govt/PSU.
2. Any identification playing cards/certificates/paperwork issued by the Indian govt./ Banks/native authorities/PCU
3. Birth certificates issued by the competent authority
4. Passport
5. Matriculation/Educational certificates issued by recognised Boards/Universities
6. Permanent resident certificates issued by the State authority
7. Forest Rights Certificate 8. OBC/ST/SC or any caste certificates
9. National Register of Citizens (wherever it exists)
10. Family register ready by State/Local authorities
11. Any land/home allotment certificates by Govt.
12. For Aadhaar, Commission’s instructions issued vide letter No. 23/2025-ERS/Vol.II dated 9.09.2025 shall apply
