Twenty-three Indians rescued from burning LPG tanker off Yemen coast

Twenty-three Indian crew members onboard MV Falcon, which caught fireplace and was adrift off the Yemen coast following an explosion, have been rescued and safely handed over to the Djiboutian Coast Guard.

The Cameroon-flagged MV Falcon, which was crusing southeast of the port of Aden, Yemen, with vacation spot Djibouti, caught fireplace after an explosion onboard on Saturday (October 18, 2025).

The vessel was totally loaded with liquefied petroleum gasoline (LPG).

Upon receipt of an pressing misery request from the vessel’s grasp, UNAVFOR ASPIDES, a purely defensive operation that protects civilian ships and crews navigating the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, initiated a search operation. 

“EUNAVFOR ASPIDES, below the coordination of Rear Admiral Andrea Quondamatteo, Force Commander of ASPIDES, has efficiently coordinated a SAR (SEARCH AND RESCUE) operation,” a press release launched by ASPIDES stated.   

“MV MEDA efficiently rescued 24 crewmembers of MV FALCON (1 Ukrainian and 23 Indians),” it added. 

The MV Falcon was escorted to the Port of Djibouti, the place the rescued seafarers have been safely handed over to the Djiboutian Coast Guard.

Out of a crew of 26, two members are nonetheless reported lacking.

ASPIDES has knowledgeable all competent Authorities that vessels within the space have to take care of a secure distance as a result of threat of explosion because the MV Falcon is carrying LPG.
