U.P. Factories (Amendment) Act enforced; permits govt to increase max day by day working hours to 12

The Uttar Pradesh Factories (Amendment) Act has been enforced within the State after it acquired President Droupadi Murmu’s assent, paving the way in which for accelerated industrial progress, enhanced manufacturing capability, and extra employment alternatives, the State authorities stated on Tuesday (November 4, 2025).

“Workers performing duties beyond the prescribed daily limit will be entitled to overtime wages at double the ordinary rate of pay,” it added.

Principal Secretary (Labour) Atul Srivastava stated the modification will make Uttar Pradesh extra aggressive in industrial improvement and strengthen the State’s progress in the direction of reaching the purpose of changing into a $1 trillion financial system.
