UP man murders spouse in Delhi lodge, arrested after confessing to police

The accused, 24-year-old Gopal Sharma, fled to his hometown in Mathura, the place he was apprehended by native authorities and later handed over to Delhi Police.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (central) Nidhin Valsan mentioned that round 3 am on Saturday, Mathura’s Highway Police Station contacted the supervisor of New Victoria Hotel in Delhi’s Paharganj space, asking him to verify a selected room based mostly on data shared by Gopal.

What did the preliminary investigation reveal?

According to the preliminary probe, Gopal and his spouse Kriti Sharma checked into the lodge at 6.35 pm on June 20. Around 9 pm, Gopal left the lodge alone, telling the workers he was stepping out to get meals, the DCP mentioned.

But as a substitute of returning, he fled to Mathura, police mentioned.

“Later, from Mathura, Gopal made a misery name to the 112 emergency quantity and claimed that he had killed his spouse. Acting on the data, Mathura police traced him and detained him on the Highway Police Station. They subsequently alerted Delhi Police,” the DCP added.

Gopal was then handed over to the Paharganj police station of Delhi Police, the place he was formally taken into custody.

During questioning, Gopal admitted to the killing, saying he suspected his spouse of dishonest on him, which sparked a heated altercation. In a match of anger, he strangled Kriti to dying, police mentioned.

The cause why the couple, who lived in Mathura, travelled to Delhi continues to be unclear.

Police mentioned a homicide case has been registered, the physique despatched for autopsy, and efforts are on to succeed in her household.
