VTU Belagavi to host finale of Smart India Hackathon 2025

Once again, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi will host the prestigious Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 grand finale, scheduled to be held on December 8 and 9.

This marks the second consecutive year that VTU has been entrusted with hosting responsibilities for the national innovation flagship event as nodal centre.

A total of 20 top-performing student teams from institutions across India will participate at the VTU Nodal Centre, working intensively for 36 hours to design and develop technology-driven, impactful solutions to real-world challenges, a release said.

The Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) have assigned VTU a set of highly significant problem statements under national priority themes, including Swadeshi for Atmanirbhar Bharat — Blockchain & Cybersecurity; Swedeshi for Aatmanirbhar Bharat — AI-Driven Pollution Source Identification, Forecasting & Policy Dashboard for Delhi-NCR; Swadeshi for Atmanirbhar Bharat — Transportation & Logistics; Swadeshi for Atmanirbhar Bharat — Clean & Green Technology.

These challenges address key national needs in areas such as environmental protection, secure digital infrastructure, sustainable mobility, and indigenous innovation, the release said.

The grand finale at VTU Belagavi will bring together ministry evaluators, industry professionals, mentors, coordinators, and student innovators, fostering a dynamic atmosphere of collaboration and creativity. VTU has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure an enriching and impactful experience for all participating teams.

As one of India’s largest and most influential innovation movements, the Smart India Hackathon continues to inspire young minds to contribute solutions of national relevance, the release added.
