An 81-year-old girl was killed and 4 others sustained accidents after a suspected LPG cylinder explosion at their home in KR Puram on Saturday (October 25) morning.
The influence of the explosion was so excessive that the home partially collapsed and three different homes within the neighbourhood developed cracks. Residents in and round Triveni Nagar have been startled by the sound, which was reportedly heard as much as 4 or 5 kilometres away.
The incident occurred at a home owned by Ramesh, who had rented it to Shekhar and his household about 9 months in the past. Shekhar, 55, lived there together with his two youngsters — Chandana, 22, and Kiran Kumar, 24 — and his aged mom, Akkayyamma.
Fire and emergency personnel rushed to the spot and rescued Akkayyamma from the particles whereas the injured have been rushed to a close-by hospital. While Akkayyamma succumbed to her accidents, Chandana is vital.
According to the police, the incident occurred round 7.15 a.m. at Triveni Nagar. Akkayyamma was asleep when the roof slab collapsed on her owing to the influence of the explosion. Shekhar, Kiran Kumar, and a neighbour, Kanchana, 45, sustained accidents.
Shekhar instructed the police that the blast occurred when a member of the family switched on the range. Police suspect that the fuel leaked and accrued in the home, inflicting an explosion. Fire and emergency service personnel, police and the Forensic Science Laboratory workforce are probing additional to establish the precise reason for the fireplace.
According to police, residents in and across the space initially thought the sound was created by Deepavali firecrackers.
