Year-long golden jubilee celebrations of VSSC Central School begins on Saturday

The VSSC Central School at Thumba, an academic establishment working underneath the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), is popping 50.

ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan will kick off the year-long golden jubilee celebrations on October 18. Established to cater to the kids of VSSC staff, the college had modest beginnings. Commencing operations on June 28, 1976, it was initially housed in two Type II quarters inside the VSSC housing colony. Back then, it had three academics and 28 college students throughout Classes I to V.

By 1979, the college was upgraded to a center faculty. Following the adoption of the CBSE curriculum, affiliation for Classes IX and X was secured in 1980. The first Class X batch achieved a 100% move price within the AISSE exams of 1982. The faculty was upgraded to the senior secondary degree in 1987.
