Sanju Samson struck a half-century, and opener Abhishek Sharma offered the early momentum as India scored 188 for 8 of their final Asia Cup Group A match towards Oman right here on Friday.

Abhishek (38 off 15 balls) gave India a promising begin after they misplaced opener Shubman Gill (5 runs) early, whereas keeper-batter Samson performed a consolidating innings of 56 runs (45 balls), studded with three boundaries and as many sixes, at the same time as wickets saved falling at common intervals.

The pair was concerned in a 66-run stand for the second wicket.

Oman’s veteran left-arm spinner Aamir Kaleem (2/31), left-arm fast Shah Faisal (2/23) and Jiten Ramanandi (2/33) took two wickets every.

Earlier, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav gained the toss and opted to bat. He introduced in Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh instead of Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakaravarthy, who have been rested.

India, who had gained each their group video games to this point, have already secured a locations within the Super 4s.
