Virat Kohli completed his 52nd century, his first since February 2025, and hitman Rohit Sharma scored his 60th half-century in ODIs. Stand-in captain K.L. Rahul also contributed and took India past the 340-mark.
After put into bat, Rohit Sharma (57) and Yashasvi Jaiswal started the proceedings. Jaiswal scored a brisk 18 off 16 balls but fell to Burger with Indian score at 25.
Then it was Ro-Ko show all the way till the 22nd over. Both stitched together a partnership of 136 runs for the second wicket. Rohit Sharma completed his 60th half-century and in the process he went past former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s record of most number of sixes in ODIs. Rohit has 352 to his credit.
After the fall of Rohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad (8) in quick succession didn’t deter Virat Kohli. India lost Washington Sundar for 13 with the score at 200.
But Kohli and Rahul (60) scored 76 runs for the fifth wicket. Kohli completed his 52nd century and was out for a brilliant 135 off 120 ball with 11 boundaries and 7 sixes.
Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja (32) joined the act and enabled India to compile a competitive total.
