Womens World Cup: England beat New Zealand by eight wickets

England opener Amy Jones struck an unbeaten half-century, whereas Tammy Beaumont and batting stalwart Heather Knight too made helpful contributions as four-time champions defeated New Zealand by eight wickets in a Women’s World Cup match, Visakhapatnam on Sunday (October 26, 2025).

Jones (86 not out off 92 balls, 4×11, 6×1) and Beaumont (40 runs off 38 balls, 4×7) shared a 75-run opening-wicket stand within the lifeless rubber as England chased down the paltry 169-run goal in 29.2 overs. Knight contributed 33.

Electing to bat, New Zealand had been dismissed for 168 in 38.2 overs.

Following the emphatic win of their final league encounter, England, who’re already within the semifinals, jumped to second spot on the desk with 11 factors, pushing South Africa (10 factors) to 3rd place. Australia are main the charts with 13 factors.

Earlier, Linsey Smith (3/30), Nat-Sciver Brunt (2/31) and Alice Capsey (2/34) had been the primary wicket-takers for England, whereas opener Georgia Plimmer high scored for New Zealand with 43.
