Bihar Assembly elections: Record 64.66% voting in first section

Bihar recorded its “highest-ever” voter turnout as the primary section of the Assembly election ended on Thursday with 64.66% votes polled. In this section, 121 Assembly constituencies in 18 districts went to the polls with a complete citizens of over 3.75 crore. The Election Commission of India (EC) stated voting was peaceable.

The figures higher the 62.57% turnout of the 2000 Assembly election. In the 2020 election, the voting share within the first section was 57.29%. The highest turnout in a Lok Sabha election was 64.6%, in 1998.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar congratulated the voters for the historic turnout since 1951.
