Boulder from cliff damages bus close to Coonoor throughout heavy rain

Passengers on board a Kerala State Road Transportation Corporation (KSRTC) bus within the early hours on Wednesday (October 15, 2025) had a slender escape after a boulder was dislodged from the cliff face and struck the automobile close to Kurumbadi alongside the Udhagamandalam-Coonoor highway.

The incident occurred throughout heavy rains within the district on Tuesday (October 14) evening and Wednesday morning. According to officers, round 40 mm of rainfall was recorded in Coonoor and Coonoor rural until Wednesday morning.

In the wee hours on Wednesday, a boulder was dislodged because of the heavy rains and crashed into the entrance portion of the federal government bus carrying passengers from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu to Wayanad in Kerala, inflicting harm.
