GMR takes over cargo operations at Delhi airport after Turkish agency Celebi’s clearance revoked

GMR Airports Ltd has taken over cargo operations at Delhi’s IGIA after BCAS revoked Turkish agency Celebi’s safety clearance citing nationwide safety considerations. Celebi has challenged the choice within the Delhi High Court.

GMR Airports Ltd (GAL) has taken over cargo operations on the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi, following the revocation of safety clearance for Turkish floor dealing with agency Celebi by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). The clearance was revoked on May 15 within the “interest of national security”, prompting Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) — a GMR Group subsidiary — to imagine full management of all cargo features.

Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd and Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India Pvt Ltd had been beforehand accountable for floor dealing with and cargo terminal operations at IGIA. With the clearance withdrawn, Celebi’s companies have been terminated not solely in Delhi but in addition throughout different Indian airports the place it operated.

About Celebi aviation Celebi, a Turkish aviation companies supplier, had a 15-year presence in India, working at 9 airports together with Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. The firm reportedly employed over 10,000 workers and managed round 58,000 flights and 540,000 tonnes of cargo yearly in India.

Challenging the BCAS resolution, Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd has moved the Delhi High Court, contesting the revocation and in search of authorized aid. The case is at the moment due for additional listening to.
