Insulting Kharge family is like insulting our own: Dr. Ajay Singh

Kalyana Karnataka Regional Development Board (KKRDB) Chairperson Dr. Ajay Singh condemned the abusive remarks and threatening calls to Rural Development and Panchayat Raj and IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge and his family.

On October 16, Dr. Singh said that the families of Mallikarjun Kharge and the late Dharam Singh have shared a deep bond for decades. “We have always lived like one family. Any insult directed at Kharge family is an insult to our own,” he said.

Condemning the growing culture of personal attacks in public life, Dr. Singh said that, instead of engaging in healthy and issue-based discussions, some have stooped to personal abuse and indecent language. “Such behaviour must be condemned by everyone,” he said.

Dr. Singh said that those who despise the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and provoke Ambedkarites with hateful remarks have already been rejected by the people, who have given the Congress party overwhelming support. “We come from the tradition of Buddha, Basava, and Ambedkar. Struggle is not new to us. But debate must remain civil and rooted in mutual respect,” he said.

Describing the threats and vulgar remarks made against Minister Priyank Kharge’s mother and family as ‘deeply disgraceful’, Dr. Singh said those responsible have ‘completely lost their sense of social sensitivity and respect for human dignity’.
