The Karavali Development Board Act, 2023, acquired the approval of the Governor on April 5, 2024.

As per the Act, the board ought to meet a minimum of as soon as in three months. It says that “…the federal government shall appoint an officer not beneath the rank of the Regional Commissioner to be the Secretary of the board…”

The goals of the board are selling the event and conservation of water assets within the Karavali space, to undertake soil and water conservation measures in rainfed agriculture programs of the Karavali space, and to advertise growth of forest and horticulture within the Karavali space. In addition, the board will promote and help actions within the agriculture and allied sectors within the Karavali space, and promote animal husbandry, fisheries and inland water transport.

A 23-member Karavali Abhivruddhi Pradhikara, or the Coastal Development Authority, was constituted on September 8, 2008, by the BJP authorities led by B.S. Yediyurappa. The then Bantwal MLA B. Nagaraja Shetty was its first president.
