PhonePe will work with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and the Small Industries Development Bank of India, to register extra small retailers with the Udyam facility, and thereby open up extra avenues for credit score and availing authorities schemes, the corporate introduced on Wednesday (September 10, 2025). 

Udyan is a platform by the federal government to formalise extra MSMEs, and SIDBI has already labored on an “help platform” to make it simpler for retailers to register for an Udyam quantity. That help platform is about to be built-in with PhonePe instantly, with the corporate saying that it will enable retailers “entry to authorities schemes and tax advantages, [and offer them] the power to open enterprise financial institution accounts, and entry to the digital funds ecosystem and monetary companies.”

The help platform “enabled the difficulty of Udyam Assist Certificates to greater than 2.75 crore small companies, over a interval of greater than 2 years,” SIDBI chief common supervisor Y.M. Kumari stated in an announcement. “This initiative will additional speed up the formalization of casual micro-businesses into the mainstream financial system in addition to ease out and improve credit score stream to those entities.”

Jitan Ram Manjhi, Minister for MSMEs, stated on the announcement that 70% of Indians required higher entry to formal credit score, and that the “blot” of this statistic must be “cleaned off” with initiatives like this.
