The West Bengal Government has appointed a State-level Task Force for reduction, restoration and reconstruction of areas affected by floods in North Bengal.

The Task Force held its first assembly on Saturday (October 18, 2025) the place two senior Ministers of West Bengal Government Moloy Ghatak, Minister for Law and Judicial Affairs and Udayan Guha Minister for North Bengal Development together with Chief Executive of GTA Anit Thapa and senior officers of West Bengal Government participated.

“The Task Force reviewed ongoing reduction measures and mentioned instant and long-term restoration works, focussing on housing injury evaluation, roads, everlasting infrastructure restore, desiltation and plantation drives,” a press assertion by the West Bengal Government mentioned.

According to the State Government in Darjeeling, 19 reduction shelters housing 640 individuals are operational, with ongoing distribution of necessities. “More than 200 injury evaluation groups and 21 outreach camps are aiding with housing and infrastructure injury evaluation and re- issuance of paperwork,” the assertion added

Floods and landslips triggered by extreme rainfall on October 5 had claimed greater than 30 lives and left 1000’s homeless in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and different districts of North Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had visited the area twice to take inventory of reduction and restoration works.

Meanwhile, Darjeeling MP Raju Bista claimed that his convoy was attacked in Darjeeling district on Saturday (October 18, 2025). Stones had been thrown on his convoy and one automobile in his convoy suffered minor injury.

“In Masdhura, close to Sukhia Pokhari in the present day, my convoy was attacked by unknown miscreants. Though these cowards had attacked me, the pressure of the assault fell on the automobile instantly behind mine,” Mr. Bista posted on social media.

The two time period Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Darjeeling mentioned he won’t be fazed as a result of such assaults. “We usually are not scared, and such cowardly assaults solely embolden our spirits,” he added.

A senior police officer from Darjeeling mentioned a case has been lodged in opposition to an unknown particular person. Earlier this month, BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Sankar Ghosh had been attacked at Jalpaiguri once they had been visiting flood-affected areas.
