Woman gang-raped in M.P., 4 held

A 19-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by 4 males in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district, police stated on Wednesday (August 6, 2025).

Police stated the incident happened on Tuesday (August 5, 2025) afternoon when the lady and her pal visited a forested space underneath Churhat police station limits. The 4 accused have been arrested. 

Sidhi Superintendent of Police Ravindra Verma advised The Hindu that discovering the couple in a secluded space, the accused adopted them. 

“They thrashed the person and whereas he ran to hunt assist, the accused raped the lady,” Mr. Verma stated, including that the lady and her pal reported the incident at Semaria police station.

Following the incident, State Congress president Jitu Patwari slammed the State’s ruling BJP over the incident and stated such incidents show the “failure of the federal government”.

“When will the horror of circumstances of Dalit, tribal, and girls’s oppression lower? When will the federal government guarantee their security? In the previous three years, 7,418 circumstances of rape of Dalit and tribal girls, 558 murders, and 338 gang rapes have been recorded in Madhya Pradesh! The figures recorded within the authorities report itself reveal that on common, seven Dalit/tribal girls are raped every single day,” Mr. Patwari wrote on Twitter, whereas tagging Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who additionally heads the Home Department.
