Bangladesh’s interim authorities on Wednesday (October 8, 2025) described Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s feedback on the final election as “completely unwarranted”, saying it’s fully an inner affair of the nation.

“I see that assertion as not their matter; it’s fully an inner problem for Bangladesh, and such feedback are fully unwarranted,” Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain instructed reporters.

Mr. Hossain made the remarks when requested to touch upon Mr. Misri’s assertion that India is firmly in favour of holding free, truthful and inclusive elections in Bangladesh on the earliest, and it is able to work with any authorities chosen by the folks within the polls.

Dhaka-New Delhi ties have been strained after the interim authorities assumed energy following the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League regime in a violent student-led motion dubbed the “July Uprising” in August 2024, when she left for India.

The interim authorities in May disbanded Awami League’s actions till the trial of Hasina and leaders of her authorities have been accomplished on costs of brutal makes an attempt to tame the July protestors and different alleged misdeeds carried out throughout her protracted regime from 2009.
