Intoxicated Indian-origin truck driver allegedly causes crash in U.S.; three killed

A 21-year-old Indian-origin truck driver has been accused of inflicting a semi-truck crash whereas driving beneath the affect, killing three individuals within the U.S. state of California earlier this week, based on a media report.

Jashanpreet Singh allegedly rammed his truck into slow-moving site visitors in Southern California on Tuesday (October 21, 2025), Fox News reported on Wednesday (October 22).

At least three individuals have been killed and a number of other others injured within the crash.

Quoting police, the report stated Singh by no means hit the brakes of his truck earlier than slamming into the site visitors. It additionally stated that toxicology exams confirmed impairment.

He has been arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter whereas intoxicated.

Mr. Singh, an unlawful immigrant, crossed the southern border of the U.S. in 2022 and was launched pending an immigration listening to, based on the report.

He was not in lawful immigration standing, the report stated, quoting U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sources, including that the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged an immigration detainer following his arrest.

Mr. Singh was launched beneath the Biden administration’s 2022 “alternatives to detention” coverage, it stated.

This is the second such incident since August during which an Indian-origin trucker has been accused of inflicting a lethal crash within the U.S.

On August 12, Harjinder Singh, 28, allegedly made an unlawful U-turn in his tractor-trailer in Florida, inflicting a lethal crash which killed three individuals. He faces three counts of vehicular murder.

Following the incident, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had introduced a pause to all issuances of economic truck driver work visas.

“The rising variety of overseas drivers working giant tractor-trailer vans on US roads is endangering American lives and undercutting the livelihoods of American truckers,” Mr. Rubio had posted on social media.
