Romania’s Foreign Minister stated the Russian Ambassador could be summoned over the second incident involving Russian drones in a European nation previously week.
Poland had already denounced the intrusion of Russian drones into its airspace, calling on Moscow to keep away from additional “provocations”. Polish fighter jets scrambled Saturday in response to contemporary Russian drone strikes simply over the border in Ukraine.
NATO member Romania has had a number of drone fragments crash on its territory since Moscow invaded Ukraine in 2022, particularly as Russia has steps up assaults on Ukrainian ports.
In a press release following the drone’s entry on Saturday, Romania’s defence ministry stated it “strongly condemns the irresponsible actions of the Russian Federation and emphasizes that they symbolize a brand new problem to regional safety and stability within the Black Sea space.”
It added that “such incidents display the Russian Federation’s lack of respect for worldwide legislation.”

“The violation of Romanian airspace by Russian drones is yet one more unacceptable breach of an EU member state’s sovereignty,” Kallas wrote on X.
“This continued reckless escalation threatens regional safety. We stand in solidarity with Romania. I’m in shut contact with the Romanian authorities.”
Jets scrambled
Russia has not but commented since Romania reported late Saturday that its airspace had been breached by a drone throughout a Russian assault in neighbouring Ukraine.
The nation scrambled two F-16 fighter jets, which “detected a drone in nationwide airspace” and tracked it till it dropped off the radar, the defence ministry stated.
In its assertion, the ministry stated {that a} “Geran drone utilized by” Russia had entered Romanian airspace.
It added that the drone “orbited for about 50 minutes, from northeast of (the village of) Chilia Veche to southwest of Izmail, and left nationwide airspace close to the city of Pardina, heading in direction of Ukraine”.
Romania’s fighter jets have been “supported by German allies… with two Eurofighter Typhoon plane”, which monitored the scenario.
The drone didn’t fly over populated areas and didn’t pose an imminent risk to the security of the inhabitants, stated the assertion.
Romania’s Foreign Minister Oana Toiu stated on X that she is going to “increase Russia’s actions at (the) UN General Assembly, urging a strict worldwide adherence to sanctions”.
Toiu instructed Romanian channel Digi 24 that the Russian ambassador to Bucharest, Vladimir Lipaev, could be summoned over the airspace breach.
In February, the Romanian parliament adopted a legislation that makes it potential for the nation to shoot down drones breaching its airspace.
