Russian fighter jets didn’t violate Estonian airspace and flew over impartial waters of the Baltic Sea in continuing from northwest Russia to the Russian Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad, the Russian Defence Ministry stated early on Saturday (September 20, 2025).

The authorities of NATO member Estonia stated three Russian navy jets violated its airspace for 12 minutes in an “unprecedentedly brazen” incursion. The incident occurred simply over per week after greater than 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace, some downed by NATO jets.

“The flight was carried out in strict conformity with worldwide guidelines governing airspace with no violation of the borders of different states as is confirmed by unbiased checks,” the Russian Defence Ministry stated of the three MiG-31 fighters in a publish on Telegram.

“During the flight, the Russian plane didn’t deviate from the agreed flight path and didn’t violate Estonian airspace,” it added.

The assertion stated the route taken by the fighters from the northwestern Russian area of Karelia “was over impartial waters of the Baltic Sea at a distance of greater than 3 km from the island of Vaindloo,” which lies off the Estonian coast.
