Second police officer guarding polio crew shot lifeless in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A police officer, who was guarding an anti-polio vaccination crew, was gunned down Wednesday (October 15, 2025) by unidentified assailants in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, officers stated.

The anti-polio vaccination crew was focused within the Kahai village of Nizampur in Nowshera district, police stated.

This is the second such incident in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within the final 24 hours.

The 35-year-old police officer was on responsibility with the polio vaccination crew when he was attacked.

Following the incident, police cordoned off the world and launched a search operation to apprehend the assailants, who managed to flee the scene.

In an analogous assault, a safety official guarding a polio vaccination crew was killed by unidentified gunmen within the Arkot space of the Swat district on Tuesday (October 14).

Attacks on polio vaccination groups and their safety personnel have been a persistent problem in Pakistan, significantly within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Militant teams typically oppose the vaccination drives, spreading misinformation that the vaccine is a Western conspiracy.

Pakistan is among the final two nations on the planet, moreover Afghanistan, the place polio stays endemic.

Despite international efforts to eradicate the virus, challenges reminiscent of questions of safety, vaccine hesitancy, and misinformation stay in eliminating the virus.
