Unconstitutional, arbitrary: Nepal events slam House dissolution transfer

Nepal’s main political events and apex attorneys’ physique have strongly criticised the President’s determination to dissolve Parliament, describing the transfer as “unconstitutional”, “arbitrary” and a critical blow to democracy.

The criticism adopted Friday’s (September 14, 2025) advice by the primary Cabinet assembly chaired by interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki to dissolve the House of Representatives, a proposal that President Ram Chandra Poudel promptly accredited.

Political events throughout the spectrum slammed the dissolution transfer.

Disapproving of the transfer, Nepali Congress (NC), the most important political celebration of the nation, warned that any motion violating the Constitution can be unacceptable.

The Central Executive Committee assembly of the Nepali Congress held on Saturday concluded that the dissolution of the Parliament has “jeopardised the democratic achievements” of the nation, MyRepublica information portal reported.

“This transfer to dissolve Parliament is towards the spirit of our Constitution and the interpretation of the Supreme Court. It is completely unconstitutional,” the NC mentioned in a press release.

NC normal secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma mentioned any breach of the Constitution raises critical questions.

CPN-UML normal secretary Shankar Pokharel described the transfer as “satirically regarding”.

The CPN (Maoist Centre) additionally expressed critical disagreement with the choice to dissolve the House of Representatives, asserting that the choice of dissolution went towards the nation’s constitutional framework.
